Day 1

EDINBURGH - CASTLE - ROYAL MILE - PALACE

The heart of EDINBURGH is a World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful cityscapes. Edinburgh CASTLE dates from the C12th and we will see the CROWN JEWELS plus Stone of Destiny. Strolling down the ROYAL MILE, we will explore its numerous alleys and legends. The PALACE of HOLYROODHOUSE is the HM Queen’s official residence in Scotland. It was also home Mary Queen of Scots.

Day 2

LINLITHGOW - KELPIES - STIRLING CASTLE

LINLITHGOW Palace was the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. The C15th palace is perfectly positioned besides the loch. A new attraction are the KELPIES, huge horse sculptures. STIRLING CASTLE was the residence of the Scottish Kings. Here, William Wallace and Robert the Bruce lived. The exquisite architecture and cobbled streets of the Old Town are testament to Scotland’s past.

Day 3

ST ANDREWS - DUNKELD - BLAIR CASTLE

The home of golf, ST ANDREWS is a lovely seaside town. It is also the site of one of the oldest universities. DUNKELD was the original seat of the Kingdom of the Picts. Scotland’s first king, Kenneth McAlpin, built a stone church here. BLAIR CASTLE, a classic castle and a major stately home. A family seat for 700 years, the castle has collections of weapons, paintings and furniture.

Day 4

DISTILLERY TOUR - CAWDOR CASTLE - CULLODEN

Speyside has World’s highest concentration of WHISKY DISTILLERIES. Names include Macallan and Glenfiddich – tour your favourite producer. CAWDOR Castle is magical place. Famous as Macbeth’s home, it is a fairly tale 600 year old castle. In 1745, Jacobites rose up against the government in support of Bonnie Prince Charlie. The last battle was at CULLODEN, now a moving site.

Day 5

INVERNESS - LOCH NESS - EILEAN DONAN

INVERNESS is the cultural capital of the Highlands and we will see the city highlights. Then, down the west side of LOCH NESS seeking out the best views to see the monster! Boat trips can be taken from many locations. The road to the Skye Bridge is probably the most scenic in Britain and en route is EILEAN DONAN – the most photographed castle on the planet and an icon of Scotland.

Day 6

ISLE OF SKYE

The ISLE OF SKYE is the most breathtaking of the Scottish Islands. The jagged ridge of the Cuillin Hills, dominate the eastern part of the island and there are many tiny villages, bays and inlets to explore towards the west. We will see the main highlights and some of the places off the beaten track. The Storr, Kilt Rock and Fairy Glen are scenic top spots. Dunvegan Castle is the home of Clan MacLeod.

Day 7

FERRY - HARRY POTTER TRAIN - VIEWS

The FERRY to Mallaig on the mainland has outstanding views of the mountains and islands. In summer, the JACOBITE STEAM RAILWAY runs to Fort William. One of the world’s great railway journeys, it came prominence as the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter movies. The Commando Memorial honours the men that trained in the Highlands in WWII. Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis dominates.

Day 8

GLEN COE - LOCH LOMOND - GLASGOW

The trip south passes through Glen Coe, a dramatic ice worn valley and LOCH LOMOND, known for wildlife and a huge body of water. GLASGOW with it’s elegant streets and outstanding Victorian architecture was the second city of the British Empire for the many wealthy merchants. Highlights are the CATHEDRAL, a wonderful gothic building and Necropolis, a graveyard to the rich and famous.

Day 9

ADDITIONS TO THE ITINERARY

This tour is an example of what can be seen. Scotland has so many outstanding places to visit we can adjust this tour to any places you would like to add. We can theme tours on certain historic time period or perhaps, scotch distilleries. Possibly add few extra days exploring countryside of the FAR NORTH, The East COAST, ORKNEY or SOUTHERN SCOTLAND.
